Airband VHF AirKit Fibreglass Antenna 118.00 to 136.00 Mhz for LSA & Microlight Aircraft

Ground Independent - No need to earth - No Need to Tune - Works anywhere.

The M1AIRKIT is an Airband VHF Dual Antenna kit for ultra light aircraft, and suitable for Trikes, Microlights, Gyros, Nanolights, Light Sport and other LSA Aircraft.

The kit includes two Ground Independent Dipole VHF Antennas, that are tuned to 124MHz, a King Post Dual Antenna Base hard wired with 3.6m of coaxial cable and a BNC connector.

These Australian Made, high quality fibreglass antennas are 7mm in diameter, and come in two sizes, 515mm and 300mm. Both are coated with black polyolefin rubber and have 5/16" screw down connectors. They attach to the King Post Base opposite to each other, and are vertically mounted on an airframe, with the long antenna facing up and the short antenna facing down.

Both antennas work in tandem monitorting the airspace above and below the aircraft, limiting black spots and any signal losses that result from blockages by the aircraft body. The King Post base requires a 'L' shape hole mount *bracket to attach to the airframe.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON ANTENNAS

King post
Antennas mounted on a king post will not tune well, The king post causes the antenna to become an "untuned dipole". You may be able to tune the antenna SWR <1.5:1, you will have an unnatural longer antenna top but this length will be a compromise.

Antennas mounted on a metal fuselage
If you are mounting the antenna on a metal airplane then you will have little problems you can use a SW2 or a M124-1 antenna.

Antennas mounted on a fiberglass fuselage
If you are mounting the antenna on a fiberglass area then you will need to either create a ground plane by the use of a metal surface such as wire mesh or you will need to use a M1Airkit antenna.

Note: *If mounting this antenna on a king post, The bottom antenna should be 300mm away from the post to get the best results.
